Gerald Dean Cochrane
( October 10, 1940 - March 13, 2024 )
Gerald Dean Cochrane, 83, born October 10, 1940, in Buncombe County, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  Gerald was the son of Walter and Catherine Cochrane.  He was a member of Boger City Baptist Church.  He drove a truck and retired after 59 years and over five million miles on the road.  He started out hauling ice cream and earned the CB handle Double Dip, which stuck with him through the years.

Gerald married Frankie Lockee and they were married for 61 years.  He always provided the best care for her and made sure she had everything she needed even when he was on the road.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie; a son, Todd Cochrane  and wife Micah and a daughter Buffy Cochrane Scronce and her husband Tim; three grandchildren, Haigen Privett and husband Carl, London Michelle and Lylli Cochrane; three great-grandchildren, Peighton, Ellie Jean and Major Dean; six sisters, Ann Evans, Billie Piche, Pat Smith, Clara Robinson, Sallie Miller, and Kathy Cochrane.  He is also survived by his faithful canine companion Bailey, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Donnie and Ronnie Cochrane.  

Pallbearers will be his nephews Russell and Donnie Smith, Patrick Piche, Jeff, Jody and Damian Cochrane and Lance Willis.

The family would like to thank the nurses with Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County for the excellent care they provided Gerald.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Boger City Baptist Church.  Receiving of friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC  28092, or to Boger City Baptist Church Future Growth Fund, 2201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
