Hugh Lee Bess, age 87, of Harrelson Road in Cherryville, died on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
Hugh Lee was born July 14, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late Everett Lee Bess and Modell Davis Bess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his grandparents, Miles and Mamie Catherine Bess; sister, Rachel Harris; and brother, Wray Bess. He served in the United States Army and later was a dairy farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella Murphy Bess of Cherryville; sister-in-law, Annette M. Clark (C.H.) of Crouse; brother-in-law, Gene Harris of Bessemer City; daughter, Lee Ann West (Gary) of Crouse; grandson, Jesse West; niece, Melissa Clark; nephew, Chuck Clark (Casey); great-nephew, Murphy Clark; and great-nieces, Emily G. Fulbright (Nathan), Emma Kate Clark, and Reece Clark.
A private graveside service will be held.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
