Harvey John Alexander

Harvey John Alexander, age 91, of 311 Wagontree Court in Dallas, died on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

Mr. Alexander was born July 8, 1929, in Gaston County to the late John Franklin Alexander and Exie Terres Alexander.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Clyde, and Melvin Alexander.  He retired from Carolina Freight in Cherryville where he worked as a diesel mechanic.

In addition to being gifted mechanically, Mr. Alexander was very talented musically and loved playing or upgrading one of his guitars daily.  He also applied his talents as the Director of Music at several area churches throughout his life.  Mr. Alexander was an avid gardener and loved growing tomatoes, onions, squash, and of course, peppers.  These vegetables comprised most of his daily meals.

Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Frances Paysour Alexander; Son, Gerald Alexander (Sandra) of Dallas;  Daughters, Brenda Kincaid (Randy) and Karen Smith, son-in-law Ronald Smith both of Lincolnton; Jennifer Alexander (fiancé, Taylor Bailey) of Bluffton, SC, and Kimberly Bell (Michael) of Dallas.  Eight grandchildren, Christopher Kincaid, Derek Smith (Cynthia), Brooke Smith, Chandler Alexander, Brandon Alexander, Rocky Skowronski, Brittany Skowronski, and Chloe Bell.  Two brothers, Bob Alexander (Jo Ann) and Harold Alexander. Four great-grandchildren Bryson Smith, Carson Kincaid, Gabby Kincaid, and Brystol Smith. Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to caregivers, Anna Ellison, Cathy Houser, Pam Cody, Yami Ramos, and Jennifer Alexander; Suzanne, Kenya, and the entire Hospice staff.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Landers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.  The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home for those wishing to sign the guest register.
