Robert Harold Lawing
( February 1, 1936 - January 5, 2020 )
Robert Harold Lawing, age 83, of Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Redding and Rev Robert Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, where he was a lifelong member. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at Boger City Baptist Church.
Mr. Lawing was born February 1, 1936, in Lincoln County, to the late Major Erson and Bessie Wise Lawing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Ailene Lawing Benfield; brother-in-law, Harold G. Benfield; and an infant brother. He served in the United States Army, then later worked for Bosch Tool Company. He enjoyed spending time square dancing as a member of Lincoln Squares Club. After retirement, he spent much of his time volunteering at Christian Ministry of Lincoln County and singing with the Golden Voices Choir.
He is survived by his wife, Frances “Jeanie” Varner Lawing of the home; two daughters, Kristie Lawing Fredell (Tim) of Lincolnton, and Kathi Lawing Correll of Sherrills Ford; son-in-law, Derek Correll of Huntersville; three grandchildren, Christopher Fredell (Betsy) of Louisburg, NC, KateLyn Fredell Davis of Dallas, NC, and Adam Fredell of Catawba; step-grandson, Luke Fredell of Lincolnton; as well as numerous extended family members.
