Shirley Beal Sigmon
( July 23, 1943 - November 22, 2018 )
Shirley Beal Sigmon, 75, of Iron Station, N.C. passed away at home surrounded by family on November 22, 2018.  Shirley lived a vibrant and generous life and adored being a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Her love of family and friends was matched only by her love of God.  She had a quick wit, laughed often (sometimes at herself), and frequently showed her love by cooking delicious food for her family and friends.  

Shirley is survived by her husband of 54 years, Milton Sigmon, her daughters, S. Montaye Sigmon and Tania Sigmon Miller, and her two much-loved grandchildren, Theryn P. Miller and Lawson B. Miller.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Safonya Jane Sigmon, and her parents, Noah Edward Beal and Susan Jane Shrum Beal.  Shirley was the tenth of eleven children born to the Beals.  Five of her sisters, Evie Beal Lynch, Joyce Beal Mitchem, Betty Beal Setzer, and Queeta Beal Harkey, and one brother, Milas Beal, survive her; her sisters Mattie Beal Richards and Marie Beal Wilkinson and brothers William E. Beal and Darrell V. Beal predeceased her.

A service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at Denver Baptist Church on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with a receiving immediately before at 2:00 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Homes of N.C. or Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County.
