Elsie LaVae Schrum Laney

Elsie LaVae Schrum Laney, age 83, of Belmorrow Drive in Charlotte, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the Center View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Burns officiating.
Mrs. Laney was born April 10, 1934, in Lincoln County, to the late Earl G. and Agnes Miller Schrum. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen L. Laney; brothers, Rev. Gordon Schrum and W.T. Schrum; and two sisters, Farrie Green and Pauline Odell. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Todd Laney of Charlotte; a brother, Grady Schrum of Lincolnton; a sister, Carolyn Waters of Lincolnton; and one granddaughter, Ashton Laney of Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207, or to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Suite 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
