He was also a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lincolnton, N.C.  He served many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and was instrumental in the bus and breakfast ministry and the prison ministry in the 80's.

He was a faithful servant who loved his church and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Ward, of the home, two daughters, Gina Rucker (Stan) of Lincolnton, Vanessa Weiss (Bill) of Maiden, two sons, Marty Ward (Edlyn) of Chattanooga, TN, and Jono Ward (Jocelyn), of San Antonio, TX, along with 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County.  The family would like to thank Hospice for their kindness during the past 4 months.  We could not have made it without all of you.  Our father made it his business to make sure that folks had something to eat.  Be kind. Feed the hungry.  That's what my daddy would have done.
