JoAnn Gates Alexander

JoAnn Gates Alexander, age 89, of Southside Road in Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025. Mrs. Alexander was born May 27, 1936, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Julius Wilson and Ernest Jane Rhyne Gates.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her son, Robert Steve Alexander (Gail) of Lincolnton, NC; daughters, Cynthia A. Ballard (Ricky) and Janet A. Garland (Dennis), both of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Don Gates (Brenda) of Lincolnton, NC; sister, Candace Miller (Randy) of Morganton, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alexander is preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Alexander; brothers, Jim, William, Basil, Larry, and Reid Gates; and sister, Lois Gates.
A graveside service for Mrs. Alexander will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in the Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC, with the Reverend Dennis Garland officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
