Darrel Franklin Devine
( June 14, 1935 - February 3, 2024 )
Darrel “Buck” Franklin Devine, age 88, of Lincolnton, is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.  He was surrounded by those he held dear after ending his lengthy fight with cancer on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Lincolnton, with Rev. Jane Hull officiating.  Warlick Funeral Home will not be involved in the memorial service.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Devine was born June 14, 1935, in Lincoln County, to the late Craig and Lillian Abernathy Devine.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW-3) in Military Intelligence. He and his family were very proud of his military service.  He later worked as an instructor at Gaston College for seventeen years.  The strength of his character and integrity were beyond reproach.

His service to his church throughout the years as a Deacon, board member, Trustee, Elder, and many other roles was a testament to the legacy of his spiritual and practical devotion in Christian faith.  

In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamera Devine; and brothers Donald, Jack, Joe, and Dean; and sister Catherine.  

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alene Beal Devine of the home; granddaughter, Jessica (Tyler) Collins and their daughter Laney; grandson, Justin (Maria) Burgin and their son Bryceson; daughter, Christie Ouellette and her son, Jeremy Jones and his children Caleb and Skylar; sisters, Dot (Gerald) Williams and Patsy (Fred) Alexander; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Max.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Levine and Dickson Hospice, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC  28078, or First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 735 Buffalo Shoals Road, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
