Robert James Wood
( November 21, 1940 - November 5, 2023 )
It is with great sadness that we announce Robert “Bob” James Wood, age 82 of Lincolnton passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center of Gastonia.
Born November 21, 1940, in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of the late Arthur & Sadie Wood. Mr. Wood retired from The Timken Company. He was a loyal member of Boger City United Methodist Church where he served in numerous roles including Sunday school teacher, Lay Leader and Sexton. He was the past master of Masonic Lodge #137 AF & AM in Lincolnton. He was also a driver with the “Bobtails” of the Shriner Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dales Wood and sister, Ann Wood Heise.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Gert Wood of the home. Daughters Lori (Rod) Rapp of Denver and Susan (Tracy) Lanier of Lincolnton. Grandchildren Kaleigh Rapp, Sam Lanier, Colston Rapp, Jonah Lanier, Chloe Rapp, a niece and three nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Boger City United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by Pastor Ronnie Roseboro and Lavell Hall. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 E. Main St., Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Boy Scout Troop #73, ℅ Boger City United Methodist Church. Any floral orders should be delivered directly to the church on Saturday morning.
