Sadie Mae Brown Carr
( December 2, 1927 - October 19, 2023 )
Sadie Mae (Brown) Carr went to her everlasting home on October 19, 2023. Sadie was born December 2, 1927, in Rock Castle Kentucky to Abe Harrison Brown and Susie Barker Brown.  Sadie grew up in a family of 11 children. Along with her parents, siblings Margie, Edith, Verbena, Joseph, Vivian, Frank, and Jasper preceded Sadie in death.  Brother Shirl and sisters Glenda and Dovie live in Kentucky and Sadie especially enjoyed any time she spent with them along with sister-in-laws Fayrene (Jasper's wife) and Norma (Joseph's wife)

Sadie loved and was devoted to her family.  Sadie was married to Stuart Edward Carr (Eddie) for 48 years prior to his death in 2000. Eddie and Sadie have 3 children:  Karen Sue Stamper (Joe), Sharon Moore (Ed), and Curtis Carr (Amanda).  They have 7 grandchildren:  Joey Stamper (Sara), Jenny Back (Mike), Lindsay Tippins (Paul), Phillip Moore, Caitlin Carr, Baxter Carr, and Harrison Carr as well as 6 greatgrandchildren:  Owen and Maggie Stamper, Lilly Back, along with Ahna, Jacob and Aubrey Tippins.

Sadie spoke fondly of her life growing up on a farm, including stories of milking cows starting at age 6, working in the tobacco fields and chopping wood when she got home from school. Sadie was known for her incredible cooking, which includes her famous chicken and dumplings and banana pudding - everything she cooked was delicious!

Sadie worked hard her entire life. She worked in numerous factories and said she was told she could return to any job she ever left. Her work ethic continued at home.  She worked and raised the children while also tending a garden.  Sadie and Eddie loved gardening and she "put up" (canning and freezing) everything she could. Sadie shared the following statement with anyone she could: "Work won't hurt you.  It might hurt your feelings, but it won't hurt you

Sadie's faith and her relationship with God were most important to her. Her favorite place to be was church. She was raised in the Church of Christ and spent the last 51 years of her life worshipping at the Newton Church of Christ.  She and we (the family) are thankful for the brothers and sisters who supported her throughout the years.

To celebrate Sadie's life, there will be a visitation at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton, NC, from 4pm -6pm on Thursday, October 26th. Her funeral service will be held at  !2:00 p.m. Saturday October 28th at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. .Burial will follow the service in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.
