Polly Israel Harris
( October 29, 1935 - October 18, 2023 )
Polly Israel Harris, 87, of Lincolnton, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Joseph Israel, Sr. and Elizabeth Memminger Israel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Israel of Hendersonville, NC; and a sister, Nancy West of St. Simmons Island, GA.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, with Rev. Dr. Dixon Free and Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday.
Polly retired from Lincoln County Hospital, as a supervisor of the x-ray department after 38 years of dedicated service. Polly was born on October 29, 1935, in Hendersonville, NC. Polly enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Polly is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jerry Wike Harris; children, Steve Lancaster (Lyn), Laura Caldwell (Allen), and Chris Lancaster (Cindy) all of Lincolnton, NC; stepdaughter, Sarah Springs (Greg) of Mt. Holly, NC; grandchildren, Joshua Lancaster (Abby), Christopher Lancaster Krupa (Rob), Bradley Caldwell, Kyleigh Caldwell Larson (Nolan), Mason Lancaster and Mattie Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Ella and Ezra Lancaster, Corbin and Camden Reynolds, and Caleb Caldwell; sister, Betty Stepp of Hendersonville; and brother, Ben Israel, Jr. (Maxine) of Hendersonville.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
