Cecil "Tony" Leon Lawing

Cecil “Tony” Leon Lawing, age 81, of Goodson Road in Maiden, passed away on Saturday, October, 7, 2023.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Setzer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Lawing was born November 24, 1941 to the late Lloyd “V.P.” Vipman Lawing and Mary Sigmon Lawing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Owens; three brothers, Howard Lawing and his wife Betty, Charles Lawing and his wife Dean and Jackie Lawing. He was the founder of Lincolnton Paint and Glass in 1973 and worked there with his wife, Margaret until their retirement in 1997 when his son, Gary followed in his footsteps and took over. Mr. Lawing was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Goodson Lawing of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Mull of Lincolnton; one son, Gary L. Lawing of Lincolnton; three brothers, Donald Lawing and wife Kay of Lincolnton, Wallace Lawing and wife Pat of Lincolnton, Jerry Lawing and wife Billie Jo of Sherrills Ford; two sisters, Pat Rush of Lincolnton and Jeannie Arrowood and husband Gene of Lincolnton; one sister-in-law, Lurylene Lawing of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Mckenzie Mull of Huntersville, Ashley Maier and husband Thomas of Winston-Salem, Zachery Lawing of Lincolnton, Samuel Lawing of Charlotte; great grandchild, Callaway Lane of Winston-Salem.
