Roy Glenn Couet

Roy Glenn Couet, 93, of Maiden, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church with Pastors Jeff Harris and Luke Connor officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Roy was born May 25, 1930, in Boyd, Minnesota, to the late Adolph Couet and Jeannette Lynne Couet.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Travis Couet; sister, Shirley Refsland; and brothers-in-law, Russell miller, Urban Sander, and Pete Travis.  

Roy was a US Army Paratrooper serving from 1948-1952.  In his earlier years, he worked for the North Carolina School System in maintenance, Dixie Boat and Display Fixtures.  His hobby was woodworking and he was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include daughters, Connie Drye (Jerry) of Concord, and Debbie Johnson (Clyde) of Alpharetta, GA; son, Don Couet of Charlotte (preceded in death by their mother, Joyce Couet); five grandchildren, Ginger Salmon (Richard), Shelby Elliott (Clint), Brock Johnson (Allie), Adam Couet (Holly), and Jala Couet; thirteen great-grandchildren, Avery Salmon, Parker Salmon, McCall Elliott, Sawyer Elliott, Jameson Elliott, Holloway Johnson, River Johnson, Lucas Couet, Hunter Couet, Autumn Couet, Dallas Couet, Bray Couet, and Aria Couet; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Betty Miller, Ella Sander, Rose Hubin (Wayne), Jerry Couet (Becky), Rita Meisinger (Stan) ,Dale Couet (Janet); brother-in-law Jake Refsland; and sister-in-law, Glenda Bortz.

The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks for all the assistance given to Roy by Boger City Rest Home of Lincolnton, NC, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County.
