Rev. Ted Wales Goins, Sr.

Rev. Ted Wales Goins, Sr., age 92, of Klumac Road in Salisbury, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin with Rev. John Spencer, Bishop Tim Smith, and Bishop Emeritus Leonard Bolick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
Rev. Goins was born December 6, 1930, in Lincoln County, to the late Maurice Henry Goins and Mary Vena Wood Goins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mothers, Ollie Mae Goins and Pauline Goins; brothers, John Wood Goins, Rev. Samuel Goins; and sister, Libby Goins Buckner. He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University and the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. The churches he served were Sharon Lutheran Church in Statesville, NC, Good Hope Lutheran Church in Hickory, NC, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Tyro, NC, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Concord, NC, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Summey Goins of the home; daughter, Mary Goins Clemmer (Miles) of Cherryville; two sons, Ted W. Goins, Jr. (Cheryl) of Salisbury, and John David Goins (Julie) of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Anna Kluttz, Sara Troup (Devin), Meggie Lail (Jimmy), and Wilson Goins (Merry Chandlar); and great-grandchildren, Addy, Landon, and Everett.
