Ralph Brown Robbs, Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Brown Robbs Jr., a beloved husband, father, friend, military veteran, schoolteacher, and coach.  R.B., age 93, of Lincolnton passed away peacefully at home Friday June 9, 2023.  

R.B. was born June 20, 1929, in Greenville South Carolina to the late Ralph Brown Robbs Sr. and Florence Dellinger Robbs. From a young age, he loved family, sports and adventure. After growing up in Cherryville NC, he enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War and served with honor and bravery. Following military service, R.B. graduated from Lenior Rhyne College and pursued a career in education as a schoolteacher and coach.  While living and teaching in North Belmont, he spent summers managing the community playground and playing ball with the kids.  Along with his wife Becky, they managed the VFW pool in Lincolnton for almost 15 years.  A longtime member of Emanual Reformed Church, he loved his church and was always helping others.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca; son Roger Kim Bivens; brother Jack Robbs; and sisters Dorothy Beam and Margaret Robbs.
 
R.B. is survived by daughter LeAnne White and husband Elliotte of Raleigh; son Mike Bivens and wife Marcia of Lincolnton; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sue Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  
 
Special thank you to Becky Ford for her loving care of R.B. for the last 2.5 years.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday June 13th at Bethphage Lutheran Cemetery with Rev. Brent Price officiating.
