James Nicholas Lewis, Jr.

James Nicholas ¨Jim” Lewis Jr., age 74, of River Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Jim was born January 7, 1949, in Bethesda, Maryland, to the late James Nicholas Lewis, Sr. and Maddie Ruth Herrington Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Nicholas Lewis, III; and a sister, Charlotte Lewis. Jim was a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. His faith and love for the Lord showed through his servant´s heart. Jim served in the Gideons International-Lincoln-West Gideons for 40 years. He worked numerous years in textiles and later for Lincoln County Schools as a custodian. Jim was loved by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Marla Davis Lewis of the home; daughters, Julia Hoover (Dennie) and Emily Evans (Frank) all of Lincolnton; son, Matthew Lewis (Sally) of Shelby; sister, Linda Bradley of Kannapolis; brother, Gary Lewis (Colleen) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jacob Hoover, Lane Hoover, Emma Grace Evans, Mattie Lewis, Miles Evans, Denli Hoover, and Kate Lewis; and great-grandchild, Lyla Hoover. Other loved ones include, Landyn, Allison, Charlotte and Carter. Jim has a host of extended family in N.C. and Georgia.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Liberty Baptist Church in Maiden, NC 28650 with Pastor Larry Blakely officiating. Burial will follow at Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
