Merle Caldwell Barnette

Merle Caldwell Barnette, age 90, of The Greens in Lincolnton, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Mrs. Barnette was born May 26, 1932 in Iredell County to the late Ervin Quitman and Mittie Jane Bumgarner Caldwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Barnette and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnette was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson. She was well known for always caring for children, baking and spending time in her flower garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Debi Heglar, and husband Gary, of Huntersville; grandchildren, Amber Heglar Roberts, and husband Todd, of Huntersville, and Adam Ryan Heglar, and wife Nichole, of Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Emily, William, and Eve Roberts, and Lorelai and Amelia Heglar.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M Friday, March 31, 2023 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson with Rev. Sammy Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
