Shirley Russell Ballard

Shirley Russell Ballard, age 86, of Old Plank Road in Iron Station, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Richie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Ballard was born February 18, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Jesse James Russell and Nellie Ann Wakefield Russell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Dulin Lawing, and sister, Judy Robertson. She worked as a proofreader for Atlantic Envelope and retired in 2001.
She was a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend to many. Her extraordinary heart, and vivacious personality started with her family, to which she was devoted, and extended to everyone she touched. She was a lady full of life.
Shirley was an active member of Faith Baptist Church where she worked serving the Lord on multiple committees over the years and by encouraging members with her irreplaceable sense of humor and fervent faith in the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of nearly thirty years, Tommy Philip Ballard; children, Gail Dulin Hall of Fort Mill, SC, Ellen Dulin Baker (Peter) of Matthews, and Harvey Dulin, Jr., of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Kenny W. Russell of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Heather P. Blum, Brittany Joyner, Madison Malone, and Dallas Lawing; and ten great-grandchildren.
