Sam Gene Sain
( November 12, 1939 - February 13, 2023 )
Sam Gene Sain, 83, passed away at his home in Vale on February 13, surrounded by family and caregivers. He was born on November 12, 1939, in Lincoln County to the late Wilford Rush Jake Sain and Mary Nettie Richardson Sain, and was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Gladys Sain, and his great-nephew, Jason Rush Sain.

Sam was a United States Army veteran and co-owner of Sain & Sain Trucking Company and Poultry Farm, as well as the founder and sole owner of Sain & Heavner Trucking Company. He was an avid Nascar fan who visited almost every Nascar raceway and attended many races.  He loved the Cat Square community and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Sam is survived by his nephews, Dr. Larry Sain (Beth) and Tracy Sain, nieces Lynn Smith (Tommy) and Karen Sain (Renee), great-nephews Andy Sain (Kristina), Thomas Smith (Bethanne), Daniel Smith (Sara), and great-great-nieces Susannah, Caroline, and Stella Smith. Sam also had many close friends who he considered family including Buddy Sain, Ronnie Sain, Clay Leatherman, David Hoover and Jack Hoover. His current caregivers, Becky Arias, Jennifer Arias, Ann Brown, Cherish Carter, Melissa Hendrick, Jane Jordan, and former caregivers, Rita Bivens, Holly Young, Bobbi Auton, Tillie Willis, Haley Warlick and Amanda Hendrick.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Reverends Tommy Lineberger and Robert Sain officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Trinity Lutheran Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 7, Vale, NC 28168.
