Thomas Franklin "Big Tom" Drum

Thomas Franklin “Big Tom” Drum, age 83, of Amity Church Road in Iron Station, died on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

His funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Amity Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Ridgway, Rev. Larry Little, and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  

Mr. Drum was born July 28, 1939, in Catawba County, to the late Wesley Vance Drum and Ester Edna Campbell Drum.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.  Thomas served in the United States Army, and would later work in maintenance for Gulf State Paper for 35 years.  

He is survived by his wife, Betty Christopher Drum of the home; son, Thomas Franklin Drum, IV (Julianne) of Iron Station; two sisters, Peggy Hodges (Albert) of Vale, and Louise Ward (Seibert) of Iron station; three grandchildren, Erika Joyce of Chicago, Joshua Drum (Adriean) of Iron Station, and Anna Totherow (Cody) of Hickory; and three great-grandchildren, Arabella Drum, Elijah Totherow, and Charlotte Totherow.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
