Tyna Faulkenberry Skinner
( November 5, 1937 - December 4, 2022 )
Tyna Faulkenberry Skinner, age 85, of Labans Lane in Lincolnton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Laurelwood Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC.
Tyna was born November 5, 1937, in Forsyth County, to the late Grady Edward Faulkenberry and Myrtle Ayers Faulkenberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Durant Skinner, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Skinner Chapman of Cary, NC, and Stacy Skinner Fitch (Todd) of Graham, NC; a sister, Ann F. White of Newton, NC; and several special nieces and nephews.
Tyna spent her younger years living in North Carolina, then moved to Great Falls, SC in the 7th grade. In high school she was a member of the Beta Club and served as secretary on the Student Council. She was honored to be selected and crowned as Miss Great Falls in the 11th grade. She loved being a cheerleader and was thrilled to be voted head cheerleader during her 12th grade year.
Tyna attended Winthrop College, majoring in Religious Education. She was also passionate about dance and choreography. Winthrop selected one of her choreographed dances and asked her to produce and direct the performance at NC State University. During her college years she met and fell in love with Ed Skinner. They happily married her senior year. After college she served as a Juvenile Court Counselor in Columbia, SC until she was blessed with her first daughter, Ann.
In 1966 she moved to Lincolnton, NC where her husband joined Cornwell Drugs as a pharmacist. A few months later, she was blessed with her second daughter, Stacy. For many years, she enjoyed serving as a Brownie leader and in school and church functions. Throughout her life, Tyna was a very generous and loving person. She cared deeply about others and always looked for ways to help friends in need while sharing her faith. She especially loved sending surprise gifts to ill or hospitalized friends. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, especially to her two daughters and son-in-law, and her family will miss her dearly!
