Dorothy Campbell Mathis

Dorothy Campbell Mathis, age 88, of Campbell Lane in Lincolnton, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Mrs. Mathis was born May 03, 1934, in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late William Theodore and Maude Leonhardt Campbell. Mrs. Mathis was a seamstress and later worked in the school cafeteria at Battleground Elementary School.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her son, Dale Mathis of Lincolnton; daughters, Angela M. Collins of Lincolnton, and Linda M. Gantt and husband, Roger, of Vale; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Campbell Owens and husband, Danny, of Lincolnton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, Rayvon Harrison Mathis; grandson, William David Collins; brothers, Ray Campbell, Bobby Campbell, and Rev. William Campbell; and two infant brothers.
A funeral service for Mrs. Mathis will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at St. Matthews Reformed Church in Maiden, NC, with Reverend William Sowers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her body will lie in state from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Warlick Funeral Home for those wishing to pay their respects.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Reformed Church, 4575 Maiden Highway, Maiden, NC 28650.
