Willie Richardson Richard
( December 18, 1933 - October 10, 2022 )
On Monday, October 10 2022, Willie Lou Richardson Richard passed from our world into the arms of Jesus. She was born on December 18, 1933 to the late John Finley Richardson and Althea Mae Abernethy Richardson. Our “Mom” walked the walk, setting a beautiful example of compassion, kindness and unwavering faith.  Willie was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Lee Richard. They were happily married for 48 years and for over 40 of those years they worked together daily in the Hosiery Industry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved son-in-law, Randy Dean Tallent.

Mom is survived by her four devoted daughters: Johnnie Rae Richard Beam and her husband, Mark, Debra Lee Richard Logan and Gene Sain, Phyllis Elizabeth Richard Tallent, and Tammy Renee Richard Johnson and husband Todd (all of Vale).  In addition, her beloved grandchildren: Angel Beam Watson and Lance, Markus Louie Beam and Paul Carey, Sally Logan Day and Dustin, Elle Tallent Dellinger and husband J and Sally’s dad Kim Logan, John Dock Tallent and fiance Erica Miller, and Luke Todd Johnson.  In addition, she is survived by the absolute joys of her life, her great grandchildren: Rae Lee Watson, JayMark Beam Watson, Finley Honeycutt Watson, Beau Christine Day, Wilkes Lee Day, and Randi Rose Dellinger.

Willie Lou retired from her only job after over 40 years to babysit her youngest grandsons, a role that she continued with each and every one of her six great grandchildren.  In addition, she volunteered in the office at both North Brook Elementary School and Childers Elementary for many years.  She was a life-long member of Reeps Grove Methodist Church, serving in various capacities including teaching Sunday School for over 50 years.  She cherished her outings and trips with the United Methodist Women and especially enjoyed her weekly lunches with her beloved “Lunch Bunch” from RGUMC.  It was said that if the church doors were open for any reason, she was there to offer her love, efforts, and support in whatever manner she could. She was in fact in attendance just 24 hours prior to her death, sitting on her usual side of the sanctuary surrounded by her loving family.
During her life, Willie Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She excelled as a grandmother, showering all of us with unending love and memories to last a lifetime.  Her favorite trips were with all 22 of us in attendance and she last had her toes in the sand this past July.  She was truly happiest every Sunday when the entire family would gather at her house for lunch and then spend much of the afternoon together.

Mom exemplified her faith and the love of her Savior by sharing her love with everyone she met. Her beloved family and friends will miss her greatly but acknowledge that we were so very blessed that she was ours. Please remember her by showing kindness to others so that her legacy of love and compassion will continue.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Reeps Grove Methodist Church, ℅ Peggy Earl, 627 Carpenters Grove Church Road, Lawndale, NC.
The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:15 PM on Friday, October 14th at her beloved Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, memorial service at 4:30 pm with graveside service immediately following.
