Anne Carpenter Anthony

Anne Elizabeth Carpenter Anthony, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 23, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sarah Underwood officiating. Mrs. Anthony will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, for those wishing to sign the guest register. The family will speak with friends following the graveside service.
She was born in Gaston County on August 3, 1931, to the late Will and Hazel Carpenter. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Thurman Anthony; son, Barry Anthony; and brothers, Bill and Lewis Carpenter. She was a retired elementary school teacher.
She is survived by one son, Andrew Anthony; granddaughter, Jessica Barber (Michael); two grandsons, Dylan Anthony (Kristine) and Rush Anthony (Jessica Long); five great-grandchildren, Mason, Ridge, and Jocelyn Barber, Adelaide and Dock Anthony; and one sister, Linda Hosier (Larry).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2582 Gastonia Highway, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
