Leila Ann Wilkinson Hager
( January 16, 1927 - September 11, 2022 )
My Mama won her fight with dementia on the afternoon of September 11, 2022.  She was raised in Lincoln County on what is now King Wilkinson Road.  King Wilkinson was her grandfather.  She was the youngest of five – with four brothers that she thought the world of.  She graduated from Rock Springs High School in Denver and attended Pfeiffer College.  She married my father, Keith Hager, on her 20th birthday and they were together almost 73 years.  She was a faithful member of Hill’s Chapel UMC where she sang alto in the church choir for 63 years.

After retiring from Smith Financial Group as office manager, she spent her time volunteering at East Lincoln Christian Ministry and with the Duke Power retirees.

Her happiest times were when her family was around her table!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Zanie Wilkinson; brothers, Yates, Hadley, Blair, and Richard Wilkinson; and son, Steve Hager.  She is survived by son Jeff Hager (Leigh) of Iron Station, NC.

The service will be at Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Lowesville, NC at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Memorials may be sent to Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 N.C.16 Business, Stanley, NC 28164
