Obituaries

Ruby Hewitt Parker, age 87, of East Highway 150 in Lincolnton passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC.  She was born March 12, 1935, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late James and Myrtle Barber Hewitt.  Mrs. Parker worked as a Media Specialist and Librarian for Lincoln County Schools, and was a proud member of the Jacob Forney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years.  Her favorite hobby was genealogy.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her son, David G. Parker and wife, Carla, of Hickory; daughter, Lisa Parker of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Jonathan G. Parker and wife, Anna, of Cherryville, Kathryn P. Hughes and husband, Nathan, of Winston-Salem, and Natalie Parker of Hickory; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Maddox, and Paisley Hughes; two dogs, Levi and Darby; and two sisters, Joyce Lee and husband, Roy, and Shirley Cooper and husband, Gene.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas Glenn Parker; and her brother, Glenn Hewitt.

A private service will be held in Chester, SC, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
