Mabel Irene Leonard Wehunt Sain

Mabel Irene Leonard Wehunt Sain, age 96, of Peak Resources in Cherryville, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in the Bethphage Lutheran Church cemetery with Pastor Tommy Lineberger officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Sain was born February 18, 1926, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to the late Robert Carl Leonard and Jennie Jenkins Leonard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Scott Wehunt, Jr., her son, Robert Leonard Wehunt, her second husband, William Hoyle Sain, Sr., her brother Richard Carl Leonard; her sister, Louise Isabelle Leonard Cline, and her niece, Doris Cline Yoder. Mrs. Sain was a lifelong member of Bethphage Lutheran Church, and a Gold Star Mother because her son, Robbie, was killed in the Vietnam War.
She is survived by her nieces, Susan McConnell and Ann Clark; stepson, William H. “Buddy” Sain, Jr. (Judy) of Lincolnton; and stepdaughter, Linda Jo Saine of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethphage Lutheran Church, 3440 Highway 182, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
