Raynard Merritt
( November 25, 1950 - May 18, 2022 )
Raynard Merritt, age 71, of Hillside Drive in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Mr. Merritt was born November 25, 1950 in Bellaire, OH to the late Frank Eugene and Flora Mae Rich Merritt.   He was a retired computer technician.

Survivors include one daughter, Sara Upton and husband Jeremy of Lincolnton; one son, Frank Merritt of Hilderbran; one sister, Rita Power of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Robert Jones, Miles Upton, Sybil Merritt and Silas Merritt.

Shortly out of high school, Ray attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and years later Belmont Technical College in Saint Clairesville, Ohio, where he then became an instructor for a time and he thoroughly enjoyed that job.  His last occupation was repairing computers and he owned and operated his own business “Tiger Tech” in Shadyside, Ohio.

A long time, proud amateur radio operator, Ray’s latest call sign was KD8RAY.  Everyone who knew him knew that being a HAM was part of his identity.  He loved it.

He considered his son and daughter his greatest accomplishment in this life and they are what made him most proud.

He enjoyed spending time and creating art with his grandchildren and being “Pappap” brought him great joy.  He wanted the grandchildren to continue on creating art.  He truly believed the quote by Pablo Picasso – “Every child is an artist, the problem is how we remain an artist once we grow up.”

Warlick Funeral Home is serving the Merritt family.  There are no services planned at this time.
