Mary Catherine McNamee
( January 4, 1931 - March 29,2022 )
Ms. McNamee, age 91, passed away in Hartsville, South Carolina, on March 29, 2022. Mary was a long-time resident of Lincolnton, North Carolina.
Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church in Lincolnton, with Father David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. prior to mass.
Born in Barnsboro, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1931, Mary was the daughter of the late James Patrick McNamee and Theresa Carr McNamee. After moving to Lincolnton, NC in 1960, she was employed by the Belk Department Stores in Charlotte and Gastonia until her retirement in 2005. Through the years, Belk friends and working with people became the joy of her life. She was an active member of St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in the Professional Business Women’s Association.
Her closest survivors are nephew Charles John Hupfer and wife Frances Broome Hupfer of Hartsville, SC; niece Barbara Hupfer Harvey and husband Steven J. Harvey of Young Harris, GA; and nephew Clement Mark Hupfer of Rock Hill, SC.
She was predeceased by brothers James McNamee, William McNamee, and Joseph McNamee, and by sisters Agnes Hupfer Genevieve Kincaid, and Marjorie MacDonald.
Memorials may be sent to St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church, 148 St. Dorothy’s Lane, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to St. Ann Catholic Church, 113 State Road 5-21-352, Florence, SC 29506.
