David Lindsay Ross
( November 29,1933 - March 25, 2022 )
David Lindsay Ross, 88, died on March 25, 2022. He was born in Lincolnton to the late Fletcher Edward Ross and Vertie Gilbert Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul.

A husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, deacon, and friend but most importantly a devoted servant to his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Ross was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church where he served in various roles under multiple pastors over the years. He loved his church family and doing whatever he could to help others. He was known as the “go-to” person for anything and everything for family, friends and strangers.

The founder and owner of Ross Builders and Supply and one of the first licensed general contractors in Lincoln County, he built numerous custom homes and commercial properties across the state of North Carolina from the mountains to the sea. He was a charter member of the Lincoln County Homebuilder’s Association and served the community through various organizations such as Christian Ministries, North Carolina Baptist Men and the South Fork Baptist Association.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Joanne Moss Ross, a son, David Jr. “Davy” Ross, and daughters Doris Adkins (Larry), Melinda Avery (Mike) and Julie Cole (Joseph) and brother Rodney Ross (Nell) and sister, Brenda Bridges. He was a beloved PawPaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and uncle to his nieces and nephews. One of his greatest joys in life was spoiling his family every chance he had.

Things that brought him joy included woodworking, digging in the dirt with his grading equipment, family trips to the beach and Sunday afternoons by the pool with his family. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling with the Baptist Men’s group doing mission work.

He will lie in state at Warlick Funeral Home on Monday, March 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church located at 618 South Grove Street in Lincolnton. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care-Charlotte Region, P.O. Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247 and Providence St. Jude Memorial Foundation, 100 W. Valencia Mesa Drive, Suite 205, Fullerton, CA 92835.
