Kathern Sue Whisnant Carpenter

Kathern Sue Whisnant Carpenter, age 85, of 4211 Leatherman Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Macedonia Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.
Mrs. Carpenter was born March 19, 1936, in Cleveland County, to the late Lester and Mallie Strange Whisnant. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Carpenter; son Ray Carpenter; and brothers, Charles Whisnant and R.J. Whisnant. She worked as a sander/sprayer for Cochrane Furniture Company.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Whitesides (Wayne) of Lincolnton, and Kathy Hale (Roger) of Vale; brother, Lester Whisnant, Jr. of California; three sisters, Mary Kale of Shelby, Dorothy Chapman of Vale, and Patsy Johnson of Lake Norman; grandchildren, Michelle Barber (Ryan), Rusty Hale (Jessica), Jamie Hale (Brenda), Kayla Hale (Matt), Maddie Hale (Dillion), Matt Hale, Jonathan Whitesides (Brittney), Michael Whitesides, Ray Carpenter, Jr. (Ursula), Tammy Carpenter, Tracy Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, and Justin Carpenter; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
