Clarence Withers Barnette

Clarence Withers Barnette, age 94, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021.
Mr. Barnette was born August 22, 1927, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Boyd Wesley Barnette and Mary Atkins Barnette. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Leary, Excel (Barney), and Bob Barnette. He worked in construction. Clarence was a lifelong member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson where he had a vast knowledge of church history, and was in charge of the church cemetery for fifty-plus years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Merle Caldwell Barnette of Lincolnton; daughter, Debi Heglar, and husband Gary, of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Amber Heglar Roberts, and husband Todd, of Huntersville, and Adam Ryan Heglar, and wife Nichole, of Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Emily, William, and Eve Roberts, and Lorelai and Amelia Heglar.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
