Dock Thurman Anthony, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Born in Lincoln County on January 20, 1930, Thurman was the last surviving child of Dock Thurman Anthony, Sr. and Irene Kiser Anthony, He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Anthony; sister, Jo Elaine Carpenter; brothers, Max Anthony, Howard Anthony, and Harold Anthony.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Anne Carpenter Anthony; one son, Andy Anthony of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Jessica A. Barber and husband Michael; grandson, Dylan Anthony and wife Kristine; grandson, Rush Anthony and Jessica Long; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Ridge, and Jocelyn Barber, Adelaide and Dock Anthony.
Thurman will lie in state at Warlick Funeral Home from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, and friends and family are invited to drop in and sign the register. Because of COVID concerns, the family will not hold a formal reception and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Gifts to Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2582 Gastonia Highway, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
