Margaret Herndon Smith, age 73, of Springdale Park Drive in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, in the Commandment Keepers Church of the Living God Cemetery, 327 Carlyle Road in Troutman. The body will lie in state from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born October 6, 1947, in Lincoln County, to the late Allen and Elizabeth Webber Herndon. She worked for Lincoln County Schools.
She is survived by her husband, L.C. Smith, Sr. of Lincolnton; children, Angelo Smith (Renee) of Lincolnton, Marcus Smith (Edith), and L.C. Smith, Jr. (Stacey), Pamela Smith Boston (Larry), Janice Huff, and Chris Caldwell, all of Lincolnton; five brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Rutherford, Ruth Farley, Mildred Phelps, Ernest Herndon, Johnny Herndon; eleven grandchildren, L.C. Smith, III “Tre’”, Ayana Smith, Whitney Suddreth, Yulson Suddreth, Lashon Metts, Angelo “LA” Smith, II, Isabella Smith, Brianna Smith, Marcus Smith, II, Destiny Smith, and Isaiah Smith; two great-grandchildren, Zane Carter Smith and Makhi Suddreth; and many nieces and nephews.
