( July 4, 1937 - September 8, 2021 )
Boyce Clinton Hance, age 84, of 623 E. Dixon Street in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Mr. Hance was born July 4, 1937, in Gaston County, to the late Edgar Underwood Hance and Wilma Broome Hance.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Hance Davis; and brother-in-law, Ed Davis.  Boyce retired from Southern Bell/Bellsouth in Gastonia after 35 years, mostly in the coin telephone department.  Boyce loved to build and repair anything in his spare time.  People would ask for the plans for a certain project and there were no plans, all in his head.  He could build anything and do it perfectly.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincolnton.  He was an officer of the Lincolnton High School Band Boosters, the Lincoln Chapter of the North Carolina Symphony, and the Lincoln Community Concert Association.  He was also a Cub Scout Master.

He lived his life for this family, especially his grandsons.  They loved to take adventures looking for trains and visiting train museums.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Hovis Hance of the home; sons, Christopher Scott Hance, and husband Ryan Tomkins, of Huntersville, Michael Dale Hance, and wife Patti Bogdan Hance of Lincolnton; grandsons, Patrick Michael Hance of Chapel Hill, and Benjamin Scott Hance of the home.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 216 S. Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
