Susan Michelle Hillen Larsen
( September 23, 1964 - August 1, 2021 )
Susan Michelle Hillen-Larsen died peacefully on August 1st, 2021, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Susan was born September 23, 1964, in Rochester, NY, to the late Paul James Hillen and Elaine Hillen-Wagoner. She was raised in Rochester and later moved to the Charlotte NC area where she resided in Iron Station since the late 1980’s with her husband Alan, their children Chance and Chelsea, and many beloved pets. Susan enjoyed a 36-year career in the airline industry with Piedmont, US Airways, and American Airlines.

In her short 56 years, Susan touched and enhanced many, many lives. To know Susan was to love her.  She will be profoundly missed.

Susan was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Nonnie” to her two young grandsons. She had an engaging personality, made the people around her laugh, and made friends anywhere and everywhere she went. Susan selflessly devoted immeasurable time and energy to helping animals…especially dogs.  This was her greatest passion, and she will be remembered for the countless dogs she played a part in saving.

Susan is survived by her husband of 31 years, Alan, her son Chance, wife Ashley and grandsons Tatum and Porter, of Charlotte, daughter Chelsea of Iron Station, her parents, stepfather Richard Wagoner and mother Elaine Hillen-Wagoner, her brother, Scott Hillen and wife Fran Pattavina, her sister Stacey Hillen, sister Sandy Hillen-Dixon, three nephews, two nieces, step-brother Jason Wagoner and wife Leslie, step-brother Rick Wagoner and wife Colette, step sister-in-law Helene Wagoner and late husband Marty. Susan is also survived by her six beloved dogs.

A service will be held on Thursday August 5th at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 537 N NC 16 Business Hwy. Denver, NC 28037, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at Royal Bliss Brewing Co., 7532 Royal Bliss Ct., Denver, NC 28037
