JoAnn Leatherman Hampton

JoAnn Leatherman Hampton, age 86, of the Reepsville Road in Lincolnton, died Monday, July 26, 2021, after a brief illness.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Daniels Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Sain and Rev. John Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
Mrs. Hampton was born November 11, 1934, in Catawba County, daughter of the late Russell Claude Leatherman and Della Mae Jarrett Leatherman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hampton; two brothers, Donald Leatherman and Nick Leatherman; sister, Jeanette Hewitt; and sister-in-law, Marceline Crouse. She was self-employed as a small business owner. JoAnn enjoyed many years with her sisters and brothers with trips to the beach and Pigeon Forge, and enjoyed many Rook games. She was loved by her family and will surely be missed.
She is survived by a son, William “Billy” Hampton (Robin) of Lincolnton; daughters, Sandi Simpson (Steve), Scottie Hampton, and Myra Heavner (Keith), all of Lincolnton; brother, Harvey Leatherman (Helen) of Vale; sister, Christine “Chris” Cloninger of Claremont; brother-in-law, Ronnie Hampton (Jean) of Hickory; sister-in-law, Willie Lee Bingham of Fallston; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
