Kelly Richard Edwards
( September 22, 1980 - July 13, 2021 )
Kelly Richard Edwards, age 40, of Lincolnton, died after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and is now walking the streets of gold. Kelly went home to Jesus on July 13, 2021.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Denver United Methodist Church with John Doggette officiating. An informal gathering for friends to mingle will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Vesuvius Vineyards, 6173 Vesuvius Furnace Road in Iron Station, NC.
Kelly was born September 22, 1980, in Catawba County, to Danny and Patti Richard. She was preceded in death by her grandparent “Chappie”, and paternal grandparents, Forace and Sally Richard. She graduated from Lincolnton High School Class of 1998 and earned her Master’s degree from Western Carolina University. She worked as a speech pathologist at Iron Station Elementary.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Edwards of the home; two daughters, Ellery Edwards and Mallie-Kate Edwards of the home; parents, Danny and Patti Richard of Lincolnton; brother, Keith Richard, and wife Ashley, of Iron Station; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Carol Edwards of Ocean City, MD; maternal grandmother, Sue Chapman; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Helsel and Kimberly Edwards; nieces, Millie Mae Richard and Taylor Shirah; and nephews, Lawson Richard, Trevor Shirah, Brandon Martin, Justin Groleau, and Ryan Groleau.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested in Kelly’s name to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797, or to the Pursuit Church, Student Ministry, 3618 NC-16 Business Highway, Denver, NC 28037.
