K. Wayne Sexton, Sr.

K. Wayne Sexton, Sr., age 80, of Boy Scout Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Lincolnton Church of God with Rev. Joel Shores and Rev. Dr. Richard King officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Wayne was born July 27, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late John William McKinley Sexton and Sarah Christine Rice Sexton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by daughters, Donna Ray, Sherry Bivens; and brother, Carrol Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a graduate of Clemson University. He worked in engineering before entering the Sheriff’s Department in Shelby, NC, where he retired. He loved playing tennis and had a passion for playing his saxophone at the Lincolnton Church of God where he was a member.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Johnsie Shores Sexton; children, Kenny Sexton Jr. (Gina) of TN, Lisa Sexton Burdick (George) of SC, Pamela Ray (Clinton) of Lincolnton, Karen (DeeDee) Green (Robert) of Thomasville, Randy Cranford (Sharon) of TX, and Jerry Cranford (Tammy) of Thomasville; sister, Linda Sexton Bennefield of OH; brother, Bobby Sexton of SC; grandchildren, Robert “Rusty” Wilson, Haley Wilson, Paige Batson Chauncey, Josh Batson, Ardy Cranford, Andrew Cranford, Amy Collins, Alicia Montemayor, Lori Hicks, Tony Clark, Crystal Donovan, Carlynn Gabbard, Brandon Hill, Lindsay Cranford and Madison Cranford; and a number of great-grandchildren.
