Harry Eugene Franklin
( March 22, 1934 - May 7, 2021 )
Harry Eugene Franklin of Denver, NC, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord at the age of 87 on May 7, 2021.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Sarah Crabtree and Harry North Franklin and brother Charles Randolph Franklin. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances (Francie) Franklin; sons Douglas North Franklin and Anthony Scott Franklin (Sharon); daughters Michelle Manning Pelphrey (Mike) and Ashley Manning Snider (Brad). He is also survived by his granddaughters Ella Snider, Campbell Snider, Mollie Snider and grandsons Alex Pelphrey and Ben Pelphrey who adoringly referred to him as ‘Papa,’ as well as, his sister Linda Franklin Young.

Born in Durham, NC, he moved to Richmond, VA when he was 9 years old. He graduated from John Marshall High School where he was in the Cadet Corps. He then joined the Army National Guard and retired with the rank of Captain after 22 years of service.

Professionally, Gene was a natural born salesman who was always honest, and his word was his bond. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge 347 (Tuckahoe) in Richmond, VA and Lodge 757 in Denver, NC for 65 years. He was an Elder and active member of Unity Presbyterian Church for 34 years.

A memorial service will be held at Unity Presbyterian Church, 8210 Unity Church Road, Denver, NC 28037 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 15, 2021. In lieu of flowers, Gene’s family has requested that donations be made to the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, NC, or another charity of your choice.
