Marvin Edgar Whiteside

Marvin Edgar Whiteside, age 83, of Iron Station, died on Friday, January 22, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Sarah Underwood officiating.  The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Whiteside was born October 27, 1937, in Lincoln County, to the late Julius and Edith Cornwell Whiteside.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin “Bud” Whiteside; sisters, Betty Ruth Dameron, Gladys Ward, Linda Cannon Mull, and Lou Alice Brooks; and a grandson, William “Will” Marvin McLeod.  Marvin served in the United States Air Force during peacetime and, upon returning home, worked in home construction.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Huss Whiteside of the home; three daughters, Melanie W. McLeod (Joe) of Lincolnton, Amy W. Dellinger (fiancé Darryl Richards) of Iron Station, and Tina W. Philemon (Todd) of Iron Station; a brother, James “Jake” Whiteside of Iron Station; a sister, Joyce W. Hoffman of Lincolnton; and grandchildren, Clayton Dellinger, Allison McLeod, Carson Philemon, Rebekah Dellinger Prickett (Grayson), and Logan Philemon.
