Gene Edward Messick, age 84, of the Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from COVID-19.

Mr. Messick was born May 20, 1936, in Caldwell County, to the late Shuler T. and Cornelia Holden Messick. He was a retired pharmacy assistant in Lenoir.
Survivors include one brother, Victor H. Messick and wife Laura Bowman-Messick of Sherrills Ford; two sisters, Leah B. Messick of Sherrills Ford and Marylee Trammell of Mint Hill; two sons, Terry Eugene Messick of Granite Falls, and Kim Edward Messick of Chapel Hill; one daughter, Gina Messick Phillips of Hickory; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
