David Boyd Sigmon

David Boyd Sigmon, age 88, of Northwest 18th Street in Oak Island, died on Sunday, October 11, 2020.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Gainsville Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Devine officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Sigmon was born September 25, 1932, in Catawba County, to the late Charlie and Lida Rhyne Sigmon. In addition, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Edwards Sigmon; three brothers, Rob, Caroll and Charlie Sigmon; and three sisters, Leila, Myrtle and Ruth. David served in the United States Navy, then most recently owned and operated Oak Island Restaurant.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Brinkle Sigmon of the home; their children, Paige Sigmon of Leland, and Shannon Walker (Ashlee) and their son, Finn, of Leland; David and Barbara’s children, Lori Carpenter (Larry), of Wilmington, and David “Bud” Sigmon of Maiden, Chuck Sigmon of Bakersville, Kathy Devine (Terry) of Lincolnton, and Kim Ingle (Joel) of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Shirley Black (Robert) of Hickory, and Ruby Lutz of Maiden; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
