Betty Theresa Laney Carter
( March 12, 1932 - October 7, 2020 )
Betty Theresa Laney Carter, age 88, of Trinity Village in Hickory, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Fred Dalrymple, 563 Fran Avenue in Lincolnton.
Mrs. Carter was born March 12, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late Ray Pritchard Laney and Mattie Beatrice Lawing Laney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, James Clyde Carter; and a sister, Ruth Hilda Bumgarner. Betty worked as a supervisor for Southern Bell, and then later BellSouth.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy C. Setzer, (Emmitt Perkins), and Susan C. Dalrymple (Fred), all of Lincolnton, and Fran C. Nelson of Charlotte; a brother, Roger Laney of Maiden; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Boger City Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
