Frances Evelyn Cogdill Ward

Frances Evelyn Cogdill Ward, 83, loving wife, mother and grandmother peacefully left this earth to meet Jesus and her loving husband Harry Lee Ward, Sr., her daddy Richard Cogdill (Pop), mother Bertha Haywood, daughter Barbara Jean, son Harry Lee Ward, Jr. (Bimbo), sweet sister Mable Lloyd, and her fur baby Taco “Baby.”

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Massapoag Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Stanley, Tony Franklin, and Rev. Zach Franklin officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. before the service.  The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Monday at Warlick Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Pres Pearson, Ernie Edwards, Mitchell Rick, Ronnie Parker, Chad Rhinehart, and Brandon Wilcome.

Born January 4, 1937 in South Carolina, she was raised in Whitmire, South Carolina.  She was a devoted loving wife for 57 years and 5 days.  She loved crocheting.  She has made several afghans for many famous country music singers including Loretta Lynn and even the President of the United States.  She loved singing, bowling, dancing, cooking, telling jokes, playing pranks.  She was a comedian.  She worked at Mohican Mills for many years.

Left to cherish her sweet memories, son Richard Ward (Rick – AKA Peg), daughter Alice Edwards (Ernie), Susan Parker (Ronnie), and the real baby daughter Tena Pearson (Pres); eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and many others she loved as her own.  Also, Vergie Hester, a devoted friend and caregiver and helped daughters in many ways to help take care of her at all hours of the day and night.

She was a member of Massapoag Baptist Church.
