Peggy Jo Wray Lockridge
( December 20, 1940 - July 15, 2020 )
Peggy Jo Wray Lockridge, age 79, of Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at High Shoals Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ben Kifer, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Cherryville, and Rev. Doug McClain, pastor of First Baptist Church of High Shoals, officiating. Mrs. Lockridge will lie in state on Friday, July 17, 2020, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home for those wishing to pay their respects. The family will be at Peggy’s home during this time.
Mrs. Lockridge was born December 20, 1940, in Cleveland County, to the late Joe Andy Wray and Margaret Louise Jones Wray. In addition, she was preceded by her husband, Sam Meek Lockridge, Jr., and a brother, Barry Wray. Peggy worked as a registrar at Lincoln County Hospital for over twenty years, but her most important and rewarding job was raising four children in a military family.
She is survived by three sons, Sam Meek Lockridge, III (Susan) of Cherryville, Robert Dean Lockridge (Brenda) of Lincolnton, and Bradley Joe Lockridge (Kristi) of Belmont; a daughter, Lisa Green (Steve) of Crouse; two brothers, Bobby Wray (Geraldine) of High Shoals, and Buddy Wray (Brittany) of Lincolnton; four sisters, Sandra Kim (Man Hyong) of Virginia Beach, VA, Janice Childers of Lincolnton, Kathy Dellinger (Larry) of Lincolnton, and Donna Kitchings (Danny) of Cherryville; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Wray of Lincolnton, and Jean Nash of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Brandon Green (Emily), Courtney Edwards (Austin), Sam Meek Lockridge, IV, Spencer Yates Lockridge, Keaton Crawford (Kevin), Andru Lockridge (Jake Ford), and Evan Lockridge; great-grandchildren, Clara Green, Camille Green, Caylin Leray Lockridge, Camdyn Linley Lockridge, Sophie Lockridge, Elias Crawford, and Kairi Crawford; special friend, Atwell Overcash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
