Charles Ernest Richardson, Jr.

Charles Ernest Richardson, Jr., age 81, of Furnace Road in Iron Station passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2020, under the care of Hospice at Atrium Lincoln, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 15, 1938, in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Charles Ernest Richardson, Sr. and Ruth Morris Richardson. He was a retired design engineer with Gaston County Dyeing Machine and later International Tool and Dye.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Molly VanDerwerken officiating.   The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Warlick Funeral Home.  

He is survived by his wife, Mable Michael Richardson of the home; daughters Jane  Stroda, and husband Nick, of Gardner, KS, and Linda  Hammett of Rocky Mount; a brother, Michael Richardson of Salisbury; two sisters, Pat  Fulmer (Monroe) of Gilbert, SC, and Mary Ruth Evans (John) of Matthews; grandchildren, Lauren Warnke (Mike), Sarah Jarman (Paul), Justin Stroda, Nicole Stroda (Andrew); honorary grandson, Wesley “Goober” Burgess (Lilly); five great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC  28092, or to Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 3097 Asbury Church Road, Lincolnton, NC  28092.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln, and to the staff of CCU Atrium Health – Lincoln.
