Calvin Coolidge Harkey
( September 25, 1926 - March 6, 2020 )
Calvin Coolidge Harkey, age 93, of The Addison of Lincolnton (formerly Carillon), passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Matthews officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Monday prior to service at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Harkey was born September 25, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Rev. W.L. and Flossie Mae Noles Harkey.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Propst Harkey and one son, Richard Alan Harkey; three brothers, Ken, Bill and Tommy Harkey and three sisters, Margaret Beal, Juanita Jones and Gloria McRorie.

Calvin was a member of The Greatest Generation having grown up during the Great Depression and served during World War II.  He joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Calvin was a watchmaker by trade and was owner of Harkey’s Jewelry for many years.

He is survived by daughters, Patty Blackwell and her husband Rick of Lincolnton, Debbie Walter and her husband Doug of Raleigh and a son John Harkey of High Point.  He is also survived by his grandsons Brian and Jason Blackwell and granddaughters Courtney Rees and Meredith Poor and seven great grandchildren,  Maddie, Larsyn, Anderson, Mia, Calvin, Tenley and Lily.

The family is so appreciative and thankful for the staff at the Addison (Carillon) who took such great care of Calvin.  The family is thankful for Hospice of Lincolnton who helped Calvin and his family on his final journey.
