Patsy Cagle Rudisill
( January 13, 1932 - October 11, 2019 )

Patsy Cagle Rudisill was called home on October 11, 2019 after a lifetime of service to the Lord.  For so many of Lincolnton’s young adults, she will be remembered for her role as the coordinator of Youth Ministry at First United Methodist Church and a driving force behind the local support of the Appalachian Service Project, Mountain Top, and Carolina Cross Ministry programs for young people to experience and to express the love of God through active service. During the mid 70’s to early 90’s, each Sunday hundreds of local youth flocked to Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF)  to be a part of a loving, caring, and sharing experience that was guided by Pat and her dedicated group of volunteers. She was genuine, loving, and a true example of a good and faithful servant of the Lord. By her side, helping her in everything she did in, around, and outside of the church, was the love of her life, Donald Carl Rudisill.

Born Patsy Ruth Cagle (1/13/1932), daughter of Horace and Sarah Cagle, she was proud to say she “grew up on the mill village”. Like her parents, and her brother Don Cagle, she could tell the best stories of her life and could retell the stories of others better than how they were told to her. If she didn’t know how to do something she would say she “was probably out that day in school”, but she would tell everyone that the smartest guy in school (Dr. Crowell) got through school by “copying my paper”. If she told you stories of being the Lincolnton representative to the “Pythian Bowl” beauty pageant as a young girl, she never failed to mention all the many people that worked to make it happen. As a member of the Lincolnton High School Girl Basketball Team that won back-to-back State championships, she would never fail to recount each of her teammates by name, tell you who they married and the names of their children or to launch into stories about the gifted Coach Kiser. It might be said that the evidence of a life well lived is in finding all the best parts of people, places, and experiences one is given and how much more is given back in loving appreciation for the blessings they’ve received. She gave us all more than just memories. She gave us the best of herself.

Patsy is survived by her brother Don Cagle, nephew Charley Cagle (Mary, Mason, Lyla), niece Rachael Hammonds (Jason, Ruthie, Spencer), son Don Rudisill, daughters Sarah (Sergio) and Mary Rudisill and Jane Morton (Steve), granddaughters Emily Morton (Paul), Randi Mason (James), Kaysi and Karla Araya-Jimenez, grandsons Joseph Morton, Cody Mason (Samantha), Jonas Shultz, Kalet and Karim Araya-Jimenez, great granddaughters Zoe and Ellie Wilde, Clara Rose Smith, and great grandson Isaac Smith. She was proceeded in death by her parents Horace and Sarah Cagle, her devoted husband Donald, and son-in-law Roy Schultz. She also leaves behind so many friends that she loved so much.

Receiving of friends will be in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Thursday October 17th from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. The Celebration of Life service will follow in the Sanctuary at 6:00 PM. Warlick Funeral Home is handling the details. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Lincolnton.
